Last night in Berghain, Berlin, Carl Craig and Moritz von Oswald played the classical works of Ravel and Mussorgsky.

Collaborating with the composer Moritz von Oswald and a ten piece orchestra, Carl Craig recorded, looped and processed the sounds of the instruments through his laptop. The two artists have recorded three tracks which they'll make available on Oct 17 under the title Recomposed on the German label Deutsch Gramaphone, but last night in a packed Berghain nightclub – with the dark rooms suitably closed –  Carl and Moritz created something magical.

While Detroit and Legend are the words you're most likely to hear before Carl Craig's name is mentioned, Moritz von Oswald has less of a worldwide reputation. Basic Channel, the label that gave the world minimal techno, and Tresor nightclub were both his babies, and Richie Hawtin, Wolfgang Voigt and Thomas Brinkmann have all credited him as an influence.

The night went off without a hitch, and if any of you had concerns from the last time Carl Craig played a Bodytonic venue, then you shouldn't, his laptop managed to avoid all the wayward drinks.
