Jay Shepheard
Our latest podcast comes from rising Compost Black Label star, Jay Shepheard. His latest EP was a great mix of deep house, italo and a bit of acid thrown in for good measure. We have some interview bits from him too...
The biggest Influence in my Life .....a bit of a cliche but has to be my family, they always encouraged me to be creative. My big sister also played an important part in my introduction to electronic music and subsequent involvement in music industry.
The internet.....At the moment I'm living in quite a small town, so I find the internet vital for keeping up to date with what's going on. Sites like Juno, Beatport, RA, Discogs, Myspace etc are where I spend most of my time....oh yeah, and Sendspace is an absolute diamond.
If I could turn back time.....wouldn't change anything
My first gig....nothing too glamorous. Probably some low-end house party in the mid ninety's, spinning old-school hardcore records off a pair of belt driven soundlabs to a room full of gurning teenagers.
The funniest thing i ever heard ...."going off like a pack of sausages in a hot car"
The best food in the world....I love food from all over, but the French and Italians know what they're doing.
One place you should definitely visit....There's a restaurant in Berlin where you eat in darkness, sounds like a gimmick but its a truly great experience. I heard that there are others like this now - but the Berlin one was the first and has real character. That's definitely worth a visit.
The happiest moment...Hmm, there's been a lot so a tricky one to answer. When I met my girlfriend is up there.
The best advice I ever got...Do what you want to do and work hard.
