Lemonade - Bliss Out [Sunday Best]

Lemonade’s enjoyably schizio (edited) original is essentially their ambitious album on fast-forward: throw everything into three minutes and see what happens. Frisvold and Lindbaek’s remix ticks everything on the cosmic techno shopping list, but feels disappointingly pedestrian after the riot that preceded it. Gold Panda does the sensible thing, focusing on the original’s ‘Bliss’, and then pitching it far out into a fuzzy, dreamy ether. Yes, the Animal Collective-y vocal treatment is obvious, but the warm, creeping crackle washes away any concerns, before a drop that walks you gently into a pool of tranced pop euphoria: the mumbled vocal, music box melody, thin kick and ever-present hiss come on a chemical rush. ‘We’re all having a good time?’ Yes. Please don’t stop.
