We have a number of options for reserving spaces in The Bernard Shaw, all free of charge and available 7 days a week. Here's your choice:
Perfect for groups of up to 40 people, We converted our old kitchen into a multi purpose den. Its small, there's a hole where the cooker used to go and its begging for a party. It has its own sound system (you can listen to our DJ, bring your own DJ or use an iPod),an easy setup projector (perfect for Xbox Tournaments or karaoke, video screenings, visuals etc) and a ''pour your own'' Heineken Tap. It's also great for creative meetings and poker nights.

For groups of 3 to 50. We have a number of sections that can be reserved in the bar for a casual gathering of your chums. You'll need to be in by 9pm though as it's tough to hold tables when it gets busy.
For 5 to 50 people and, yes, it's actually a bus. A double decker 1978 Gardener retired from the streets of London that's now living its golden years as a fully functioning pizza restaurant and you can reserve the top deck for your hooley. Click here for more info on the bus and to see the menu.
The Big Blue Bus is currently open Thursday to Sunday 6pm - Midnight. (Available Monday to Wednesday on request)
Any Pizza and any Pint for only €10 until 9pm each night. Hookah Pipes also available

The Bernard Shaw is Bodytonic's very first venue in Dublin. The bar opened in 1895, we took over 111 years later. There's ALOT of history in this place and we've only begun a new chapter.
As promoters, music is our first love and putting on parties and events is our job. Musically, we cover a lot of bases. We have DJs and bands 6 days a week playing across the board from house to drum and bass, Baltimore to grime, roots reggae to disco, hip hop to rock. Events-wise, on any given day you could walk into a back yard Carboot Sale, an exhibition launch, a marathon 10hr set from a Detroit DJ legend, a hot-tub party, dinner on a double decker bus, a live show from emerging Dublin bands, graffiti battles, jazz band in the smoking yard, or even just a simple pint of plain and a chat.
You can find out what's going on by clicking Whats On or if you're the gambling type, just turn up.
The Bernard Shaw opens 7 days a week from 4pm although sometimes we open earlier for different events. Check Whats On to see. We close at midnight Sunday - Thursday and 1am on Friday & Saturday.
We are located at 11 - 12 South Richmond Street in Portobello, Dublin 2, which is between the top of Camden Street and the Grand Canal. We are about a 10 minute walk from St. Stephen's Green. Click Here to see where we are on Google Maps. Other venues within 5 minutes walk of us include Whelans, The Village, Anseo, Pod/Tripod.

CARBOOT SALE - IMPORTANT NOTICE
As of August 2010, future Toejam Carboot Sales have been postponed due to a licencing issue with Dublin City Council over the space we use for the event. We are working hard with architects and officials to get this resolved and to get the market back on it's feet. We have been receiving lots of emails and notes of support since we announced this and are super grateful for them all, confirming what we felt ourselves already, that it's an event worth fighting for. No promises but indications are at present that we could possibly be up and running by Christmas. We'll keep you posted.
What is the Toejam Carboot Sale?
The biggest event we do in The Bernard Shaw hands down, big enough to warrant it's own section here anyway. The Toejam Carboot Sale happens roughly every 4 - 6 weeks depending on time of year, in the BS back yard. It is an odds 'n' ends market, with car boots and stalls, food, drink, bands, DJs and a few hundred people in great humour. Starts at 1pm, runs til 7pm, with after party til the wee hours inside and is Free In.

See the FAQ for details.
The Bernard Shaw is also a small art gallery, hosting regular rotating exhibitions from some of the countries best artists, illustrators, photographers, painters & writers. We try to strike a balance between established talent and new artists that we believe in.

We have a number of walls in and around The Bernard Shaw that we use for large scale murals and art.

Street Hoardings
Huge frontage onto a very busy street, these are used for a mixture of commercial and bespoke work.
For advertising rates please email john@bodytonicmusic.com

Smoking Area
The entire back wall of our smoking area, which is the busiest area of the bar, hosts a rotating mural.

Back Yard
Where the Carboot Sale takes place, one wall hosts a piece from New York grafitti/sign writer ESPO, the other wall changes almost daily and is a proving ground for young grafitti writers.
