Apple as a company have been going down since march - Google are leading the way now, especially with the android market - in particular the Japanese market, it also doing better in America now than Apple.  The shares of Apple have gone way down since then whilst Google has risen a lot.

is it not more true to say , apple 50% , everyone else [using andriod software] 50% ?
was inevitable others would catch up, especially the more established players, but for them to still have 50% is pretty massive, even if it dwindles to 30%, still so.
regardless apple without jobs running the show, and maybe its apparent already, is a serious problem for them you'd imagine . i think one of jobs faults was to make himself too much the star of the show. maybe its ego, maybe its just thats the way it was, but most people dont know 1 single other person at apple so if/when he left, they and the public would be left rudderless. thats not something you'd see happen at google. they say a sign of great mgt, is that things continue to run well, long after the person who started it , left. will tim cook be a bob paisley or a steve mcclaren ? time will tell...

all said , sad news he's leaving. he's someone i learned about in college, and tracked all the way through from there, one of the greatest entreprenuers of all time...

If Jobs is a good leader, and I've little doubt that he is, he will have shaped a culture at Apple that will survive him when he's gone.

From a human level it's very sad, as obviously health is the issue. But Apple as a company have been pissing me off for a while now. They used be known for making products that actually work, but recently (especially the iPhone, for me anyway) they're causing as many bugs and problems as Microsoft products (with microsoft-esque denials of there being any issues). It's making me reconsider getting anything from them again.

Not quite, yes the Android ecosystem is split between about 10 different manufacturers (not to mention all the royalties that companies like Microsoft receive on patents) but the iPhone is not built or put together by Apple either (actually it's mostly Samsung) so they don't receive the full whack from that.

They still make far more off it as a percentage than Android makers, there's fuck all money in actually manufacturing these things anyway, all the cash comes from the design.
