Tenth Planet is setting up shop on the best rooftop venue in Dublin. The Sycamore ''open-air penthouse bar " where we will be there the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month. We’ll be bringing the special Funktion 1’s sound every time courtesy of ‘Hertz-U Soundsystem’ and we’ll be opening at 9 every time so it will mean a 6 hour party for your ears and your feet!

We hope to drop some extended sets in there as well from some local and international guests. There are drinks deals to boot so come down early for a great night of music.

    Party :)

We bring you for our next gig at the roof a very special event with DONNACHA COSTELLO one of Ireland’s best at the helm playing our rooftop party. Donnacha will be playing a 3 HOUR DJ + 909 SET combining live elements into the mix for what is sure to be an un-missable night in the intimate surrounds of the rooftop . In support we have a live hardware based set of his own productions from ROB GLENNON featuring Tr- 909, and an Elektron's Machinedrum and Monomachine .

Both are no stranger to a Tenth Planet we’re expecting a great night. Also on support is Subject’s Niall Cleary and our own Rob Maguire, with ComeJackWithMe on funk duties in the lower room. That’s not all it’s only €8 before 11 and just €10 after.

It’s fully covered, heated and open at the same time so you’ve got the best of both worlds. This is the 2nd in a series of parties in the space that we’ve planned as the weather starts to get better and better coming into the summer.

    Donnacha Costello [Minimise, Poker Flat]
    http://donnachacostello.com/

There are few artists these days that consistently succeed to focus their passions, talents and instincts into deliciously individual, melancholic, beautiful and timeless recordings. Irish born Donnacha Costello is amongst the highest ranks of such artists.

There can be no question that Costello is in electronic music for the long haul. Since his production debut in 1996, he has forged his very own brand of emotional and highly refined electronic music; timeless club music which has consistently found its way into the crates and playlists of house and techno’s biggest DJs,
Plenty of artists reinvent themselves, but few do it with such obvious intent as Donnacha Costello. From his earlier releases on D1. To ‘The Colour Series’, to his more recent closing and re-opening of Minimise ....To his new 'Look Long' platform. Here’s an artist who’s carved his own path.

Cash at door no tickets? Seems like a great gig.

What's this roof bar like? I'm intrigued. Would I be right in thinking that this could end up with a bunch of lads standing in front of the Dj booth staring at all the nice kit being used (Monomachine, 909, Machinedrum, etc)?

the roofbar itself is actually pretty cool. not much of a view but the open air vibe is nice in the summertime.

It's a decent spot but the sound is woeful.

Their last party just gone was great craic. Think they're getting a Funktion 1 in for this so sound should be sorted.

Its a cool spot, loads of pretty girls, cheap enough drink but the sound is terrible and it

takes forever to get a drink. Sounds like a good gig tho!

tbh it would be hard for the sound to be good. by that i mean, stick in good sound, in that location and not insulated, and you'd have Temple Bar properties, and all the neighbours breeding down your neck i'd imagine ? you'd have to take a substantial amount of the bass out of it to prevent a major problem.

Yeah, thats very true, low end is very hard to control. Having terrible problems with it in my apartment, neighbours are going bananas about it!! But thats all the Rooftop is missing... LOW END. Anyway, I'll be at Floating Points getting my fix of boom that night:)
