Was around 15, saved money for kam belt drives, in the end stumbled upon a shop which had the first Pioneer CDJ500 and fell in love with it, of course it was around 800 pounds at the time if my memory serves me correct, so had to make do with one CDJ and this other piece of absolute shit Soundlab thing which had very poor cueing. Friends got kams so we used to hook up the 4 decks and had Paint Shop on my Atari ST acting as a strobe light down in the bedroom!!!

15,16. Can't remember, Technics, saved up for ages while buying records from the 2 euro bin in bpm Waterford. Nothing will ever replace that feeling..

For my 13th birthday a set of Gemini belt drives

Each week i had enough money for one record, i'd march into Abbey Discs and listen to "i'll have that for you next week" i believed the prick and all!!

15, got a pair of Stanton direct drives, actually had those for about 7 years before I finally upgraded them, had a few different mixers along the way though.

16, saved up enough from my first part time job (Roches Stores!) to get a pair of Soundlab Direct Drives and a Soundlab mixer. I was over the moon. I had been saving for a while so i had already bought a few records while i was waiting for the decks. It was agony, having to wait weeks to play these records i bought. First ever record i bought was Danny Tenaglia - Music is the Answer.

It wasnt until a few years later i was on work experience/co-op at college that i could save up enough to graduate to the 1210's.

    Christ, time flies...

went into abbey discs every week looking for a copy of this

I also believed that they'd have it the following week, every time! never did get a copy of it...

still though, they'd knock a few quid off everything I bought & I'd only be buying one or two records at a time, which was pretty sound
