The trailer seems to promise about as much in fairness...

Bradshaw doesn't slate the film which bodes well, sure it's not as iconic as Alien but doubt many fans thought it would be.

Going to see it in the Odeon up by the O2 on Friday, can't wait.

Strange little cinema that Odeon. Checked it out when it first opened, but dunno if it offers enough over other cinemas to tempt me back again. And the long walk through that ghost of a shopping mall is kinda depressing. Wouldn't like to see it fail all the same.

Find Bradshaw often struggles to slate films from big directors even if he should. If he doesn't really like their film he finds roundabout ways to compliment aspects of it he did like. Like suggesting Fassenbender "provides the film's real glint of steel, while decentring its dramatic focus." Kind of a back-handed compliment. Would personally read his review as less than enthusiastic but will wait to see how other critics compare, say it'll divide them, but with a film like this it matters very little I guess, people gonna go anyway, myself included.

I'm surprised that it got 3 stars after reading the review, it's pretty scathing. Fox are obviously looking for a new franchise that only hints at Alien/Aliens. More of a stand alone film.

If it is pants, the blame lies squarely at Damien Lindelof, of Lost fame, he re-wrote Spaights script, the original had the Facehuggers through to the Alien. That all got dumped. I'm still excited to see it regardless.
