We’ve come a long way since our first gig in Kennedy’s 6 years ago, and even further since our first ever gig in Crawdaddy 7 years in September. To think we were 22 & 21, and knew it all, seems like a lifetime ago. It’s that time of year again when we reflect on the Lunar year past and look forward to the future, with lots more in the pipeline, as usual.
Since our last birthday with Chicago legend Tyree Copper we’ve had some more epic nights with the likes of John Heckle Live Irish debut alongside Neville Watson, the long awaited return to Dublin of DJ Stingray and live sets from the Lunar Disko Records family; Meschi & Raiders of the Lost ARP. Not to mention the free parties we’ve been throwing in the Sweeney Mongrel with the finest local talent around. We’ve also just put together a gang of our favourite local DJs, promoters, artists & labels for yet another free monthly party. This time over 2 floors in the new ‘U Bar’ on High St. On the label side of things we put out LDR_09, LDR_10 & LDR_10.10 and are in the final stages now of getting our first LP out.
For our 6th birthday, Friday 13th July, we’ve decided to do something a little bit different and not have to worry about breakeven points, the guestlist and (hopefully) if anyone will be down before 0100. We’ll be throwing a free party in the basement of Sweeney Mongrel’s with a very special Mystery Guest flying in for the occasion. We may or may not let the mystery be revealed closer to the date, some of you can probably guess and others will just have to wait. Needless to say it will be another Lunar Disko birthday to remember. We hope you can make it.
