Say what you wany about Jaar's music (I personally think he's one of the best electronic acts in years) but his Dublin show had it's ups and it's downs. Crowdwise it was full of girls there to gawk at him whilst talking loudly and dancing badly, if at all. High level of attendance from the ubiquituous male 21-27 hipster (or whatever the fuck they're called these days) demographic too; more of the aforementioned inane and loud chatter from these boyos too. Musically though, outstanding. Nice to see a live electronic act use the studio versions of his tracks as a template to be improvised around rather than pressing play on Ableton and twiddling knobs on a mixer for an hour or so. Sound in the Button Factory is rubbish unless you're halfway to the stage or closer, that balcony going over the sound desk kills the acoustics on the dancefloor completely. More speakers please.
