Here are our selections for the week ending Friday 26th October:
Neon Love
Passions - Emergency (Radio Edit) (Taken From Maison Kitsune Volume 4)
One of the highlights of a great compilation, Emergency is The Sisters Of Mercy covering Waters Of Nazareth with a shouty punk bitch switchblade-sampled into the chorus. Trent Reznor's manifesto of creating agro-guitar rock with synths and sequencers has clearly left an impression on Brooklyn's Passions aka Math-Head - it's no surprise a mangled version of Nine Inch Nails' Head Like A Hole surfaced during his recent apocalyptic DJ/live set at Kennedys. At the angrier end of the Neon Love-o-meter but still strangely bouncy and fun.
Tayor
The Light Fantastic - Lost At C-Minor - Playhouse
Taken off the first 'Famous When Dead' compilations on Frankfurts love 'em or hate 'em ( i do both ) Playhouse Records. This track was released in 1999 but still sounds fresh today. On that kinda nu-disco tip all them kids are jiving to these days.
Nic James
Fam-Lay ft. Pharrell - Da Beeper
If, like most discerning ravers, you've been shaking it to future Bodytonic guest Sinden's 'Beeper', then you should check out 'My Beeper' by Famlay and Pharell. Slightly more than just inspiration for Sinden's bassline monster this track gets heads nodding and feet moving in its own right. Gett'n money like '88.

Manuel Tur & Dplay - Clock Shift EP [Compost Black]
Manuel Tur & Dplay combine for yet another bag of tricks! Still hard to believe that Tur is only 21 years old! The German youngster has had recent bits, bobs and biggies on the likes of Freerange, Conya, Agave and Electraluxe with and without Dirk Gottwald (Dplay). Continuing on the consistency of Compost Black, this release is a solid three tracker and is being plugged by everyone from Kerri Chandler to Cork's deepest Fish Go Deep and Karizma. Deep, groovy basslines and meandering beats make up the warm and noddy nature of this EP. "Conchord" is an underestimated, slow building piece of deepness that takes its time but eventually gets there. "Move" flips round with some deep techy bass while "Clock Shift" slips through the gears & melodians its way into some serious 4'4 action - mellow beats, strings, trippy sprinklings & subtle drums. Each track has its own character, slow-burning, nice chords, stabs and atmospherics. An excellent EP and definitely infectious.. watch these two for more deep action over the next year.

Boundzound - Louder (All Mighty Club mix) [Universal]
Props to Liam Resoul for the heads up on this one, which I finally managed to track down this week after hearing him wreck the club with this last week and on the 5th birthday night. It comes with Martin Buttrich and Henrik Schwarz mixes in the pack, but the pick of the bunch by far for me is Buttrichs All Mighty mix.
Here in the remix, simplicity is the key. Buttrich takes everything that's brilliant about the original, adds a solid 4/4 and a little dash of dancefloor aesthetics to the structure, cuts out the rapping and hey presto, you are left with an absolute killer of a track. Highly highly recommended.

Venetian Snares - Sabbath Dubs
In keeping with the time of the year I'm going spooky on this one and if that's not enough to put you off....it's dubstep too! Don't let it. This perfect 10" on Kriss Records, yes I did say it, add on instant classic and you get the picture. Grab some shades first as this is blinding. Two Dubstep edits of Black Sabbath tracks that have to be heard to be believed. Veteran producer Aaron Funk from Winnepeg taking Ozzie out of his living room and into the clubs, what will Sharon think? Grab the 10" (my favourite format labels take note) at City Discs.
Thats it for this week, we'll see you next week for a special SCARY edition. No, it won't feature THAT photo of Conor L, but we will be picking out our best Hallowe'en themed tunes for you lucky lucky people!
