Apartment Records keep on building
TR One meet John Heckle and Juju & Jordash by the gasworks wall...
Appropriately named after the type of building construct which led to the decline and fall of Ireland's housing empire, Apartment Records now looks set to have the same impact on the second (third? wevs) wave of Ireland's burgeoning electronic music production scene.
Following on from the devastating debut release from the mysterious NCW, Apartment Record’s 2nd release comes from Ireland’s analogue-obsessed soul assassins, Tr One. On the A-side, Drum Dance is a fusion of beatdown with a minimal techno aesthetic, creating a hypnotic journey through the duo’s machines.
The B-side serves up 2 alternative takes. John Heckle’s debut remix takes a heaving, lo-fi approach to the original’s drums while layering it with wistful synths, before Juju & Jordash’s Dub version closes off proceedings in their inimitable style; expansive yet claustrophobic at the one time.
