Belgian producer San Soda is a name you should be keeping an eye on - alongside Red D, he runs the We Play House label, home to a select band of US house-indebted beat merchants. San Soda - aka Nicolas Geysens - caught the house bug a little late when, aged 18, he heard Tyree Cooper DJing in his hometown of Deinze, a night promoted by Red D. One demo delivery later, and Geysens was on his way.
Over the past 18 months, Geysens concentrated on developing his own sound close to home - releasing exclusively on We Play House, his loose-limbed approach and ever-present deep chords have become something of a signature style. And this mix showcases his ability beautifully - 13 tracks from his studio, including a couple of exclusives and unreleased offerings, plus an unlikely Chic reworking.
Geysens is currently working on an album and will debut a live set next year. In the meantime, he shares one side of the latest limited WPH release, the 'Blue EP, with Raoul Lambert. The latest regular WPH release is from former Ferox man Russ Gabriel. Geysens is currently preparing the follow-up, WPH007, for release early next year.
