Troll Records was set up by Nils Noa and Christian Sol to be a platform for their own music and other national and international artists. The goal with their record label is to have a steady stream of releases in the landscape of techno and house music. Each publication will have a unique cover design with themes from Norwegian nature, wildlife and lovely ladies.

We sat down for a chat about what's happening with their label...

When did you start the label ?

We started the label back in 2009

Why ?

There were no labels putting out house and techno in Norway on a regular basis, and also we wanted to make a platform for new talent as well.

Who or what was your biggest influence ?

The whole 90s dance-music explosion defined both me and Christian as Djs and producers.

What was your biggest record ? And your best ?

We have not had that many releases, but the Stacey Pullen remix of "Throned by icewinds" i reckon is the biggest. The best I think is Simon Bakers remix of "Skogsdans".

Can you make a living running a label ?

At the moment no, but we got some investors on board, so the future looks pretty bright. We gonna work our ass off, thats for sure.

If you could sign any artist, who would you go for ? And why ?

To be honest if we had signed a huge artist like Carl Craig, it would be impossible to follow up, so for us it's best to stay on the road we are now, and develop Norwegian fresh talent to the next level, and take it from there.

Upcoming plans ?

We have some really nice releases lined up for 2012. And also we are in the plans of releasing full length albums as well. And we will do more label parties both nationally and internationally.
