Straight to the Point: Martyn
In the year 3024, Martyn is still killing it...
Lesser-known fact is that Martyn has a release out on cult Irish D&B label, Bassbin from back in 1996. His sound has morphed through the years with subsequent output cropping up on Ostgut Ton, All City, Apple Pips, Brainfeeder & most prominently on his own 3024 label. Bodytonic caught up with him for a quick Q&A and asked him to get Straight to the Point...
Where are you now and what did you have for breakfast?
In my studio- breakfast usually means I drink lots of coffee
What software/hardware setup are you presently using to produce your music and or use for your live shows?
i usually find it very uninteresting to talk about software and hardware - I have a bunch of little bits and bobs that I like to use, but eventually it all comes together in Logic 9. My live set up is Ableton with an APC40 Controller, and I like to bring some extra delay or reverb with me if traveling allows me to.
Which is your most used hardware/software instrument and why?
Definitely the coffee maker!
What would you be found doing on a weekend off from work?
I like traveling, but when Im not playing gigs I usually like to just spend time at home, catching up on movies, cook nice food, that sort of thing
Who is your favourite new producer and why?
I really love all new Jon Convex work
Your last album came out on brainfeeder.how did that come about and will there be more releases from you on it?
I've known flying lotus for quite a few years, I really like his vision for the label and its artists. maybe there will be more releases on Brainfeeder, its too early to tell really.
Any news for 3024 in 2012 you would like to share with us?
Next up is a 12" by Redshape from Berlin. Also a 12" with Jon Convex will come out pretty soon!
