We get chatting to Im Your Vinyl, up and coming electronic pop duo . . .

I’m Your Vinyl are an exciting new act from Dublin featuring singer/guitarist Dana Donnelly and producer/musician Ken Mc Hugh (AUTAMATA/WE SAW HEAVEN).Having road tested their songs with a few performances over the past few months, including the IMRO “best of” showcase tour and the Camden Crawl festival, they released part one of their debut album on the 15th of June. Parts two and three will be released in September and January consecutively. With catchy songs chronicling the joys of life and love, their colorful warm sound is upbeat and melodic with plenty of twists and turns sewn together using uplifting beats and cinematic sonic vistas. Influences range from Bjork and Doris Day to Pulp Fiction and Twin Peaks, they have a fresh new sound that is worth getting to know.

Monday

"We have just released ""part one"" of our debut album last week so its busy busy around here. We are self releasing at the moment so there are always lots of e-mails/calls to attend to dealing with press, radio , booking gig's etc. We organized a slot on Phantom FM's Pure Morning for next friday with Michelle and Richie. We will play a couple of our songs live on air along with a chat. The last time I hung out with Michelle was at The Electric Picnic a couple of years back, lots of fun was had, it will be nice to see her again. We got some great feedback after The Irish Times included our current single ""Roll The Dice"" on a new podcast they are doing. Go to the Gate theatre in the evening to see Glengarry Glen Ross. First time in the Gate, an amazing place, I hope they organize some more modern plays like this in the future."

Tuesday

"Dana and I meet at my studio to re-record some vocals for the track ""Summer Of Love"". We are currently putting the finishing touches to the recordings for ""Part Two"", set for release in September. One or two small bits to re-do as we change the songs after playing them live. After spending a long time in the studio writing and recording it has been good to play the songs out live and get reactions. I re-worked the mix for this song a few weeks back and it is now a different beast. We also sit down and make plans for our next videos. Working on three new one's at the moment. Dana and I get the ideas together and we use various friends with good camera's to shoot. I edit them up on final cut pro. I enjoy editing the videos as its a different form of creativity.

Wednesday

"Today I'm back in the studio working for a different artist called Mail Order Messiah's. I am recording vocals and other parts as well as mixing and mastering his new album. It is starting to sound great. Four songs nearly finished with six to go. It is very cinematic song based stuff with lots of weird twists and turns. Start watching ""The killing"" TV series and get hooked. It's a bit of a Twin Peaks rip off with the basic story line but I'm not complaining as I LOVE twin Peaks. To wind down in the evenings this week I watch this. "

Thursday

"We meet up to rehearse our live set. Lots of loud sounds, feedback and 1,2,1,2's until we get the sound right with the PA as we start. Currently our live setup is Dana on Lead vocals and rhythm guitar with myself on lead guitar, electronics and backing vocals. It's a very upbeat set that conjures up the need to dance or move. In the future we would like to add a few more musicians around us as when the stages get bigger. We work up a version of Yazoo's ""Dont go"" as our first cover version. We might add it to our set for the Twisted Pepper. We also rehearse some of the songs acoustically for the radio slots. I live close to the Phoenix park so I check out The Stone Roses who are playing tonight. Ian is a bit out of tune ( I laugh to myself at the idea of somebody suggesting he try out autotune....punch in the face i reckon ) but I am blown away by John Squire. What an amazing guitarist. Legend!!!!!

Friday

"Re-record a guitar part for our song ""For You"" and remix. This song is also on part two. Again, I started playing a new guitar riff for this song live and want to add it to the recorded version. But I also like the old guitar riff....decisions...decisions...Mixes for Part Two finished its time to work more on the videos. One of them will be shot in the dark of night so we meet up late and do a test shoot on the i-phone. These new Iphone 4s's have really good camera's attached. "

Saturday

"A day for cleaning my gaff, washing clothes and relaxing.... Take a walk early evening through the phoenix park....Jaysus...a bad idea. It's hell on earth with people going to the Swedish house mafia gig. A very aggressive atmosphere. Had a bad feeling before I read the newspapers the following day about the stabbing's etc. It's a shame as Music = Love as far as I am concerned.I hope most people who paid hard earned cash for their tickets had a fun night. Met up with some friends in town for a birthday BBQ later. Meet a guy from another band and we spend most of the night talking about new synthesizers and music.

Sunday

"I love Sundays. There is just a certain feeling I get on a Sunday that can never be replicated on any other day of the week. I always just feel relaxed even if I am very busy. We wrote a song about it called ""Morning Comes Alive"" It will be on ""Part Two"" of our album release. We are also currently opening our live set with this song. It is probably still my favourite track we have recorded also. I chat with Gretta Gunn who will perform with us at the Twisted Pepper gig this coming Saturday the 14th of July. We make plans. Early night as its a long week ahead...."

You can catch Im Your Vinyl along with Gretta Gunn for a mere €6 at The Twisted Pepper
